Employer’s Liability insurance
Employer’s Liability insurance covers the liability of employers for injury and disease caused to their employees during the course of employment.
Each country’s law imposes duties on employers to ensure the welfare, health and safety of their employees and others in the workplace. It could lead to criminal sanctions in case of breach of these duties resulting to injury or disease to an employee.
Accidents are easy to cover but liability claims due to diseases are very complex considering the latency of the claims and the difficulty to estimate the causation that has triggered them. There can be a delay, often up to 40 years between the workplace exposure to the substance causing the disease and the disease resulting from that exposure developing and becoming manifest.
The law in the country you operate your business is therefore important to clarify the liability of employers for such kind of claim.
